Remarks:

1.      EARNINGS PER SHARE

The calculation of basic earnings per share is based on the net profit 
from ordinary activities attributable to shareholders for the year of 
HK$234,412,000 (2002: HK$216,397,000) and 951,168,826 (2002: 951,168,687) 
weighted average number of ordinary shares in issue during the year.

The calculation of diluted earnings per share for the year ended 31 
December 2003 is based on the net profit from ordinary activities 
attributable to shareholders for the year of HK$234,412,000 (2002: 
HK$216,397,000) and 991,394,709 (2002: 996,437,001) weighted average 
number of ordinary shares, which represents 951,168,826 (2002: 
951,168,687) weighted average number of ordinary shares in issue during 
the year plus 40,225,883 (2002: 45,268,314) weighted average number of 
ordinary shares assumed to be issued at no consideration on deemed 
exercise of all warrants outstanding during the year.  

2.      RESTATEMENT OF LAST YEAR'S FIGURES

The restatement was due to the adoption of the revised SSAP 12.
