Remarks:

1.      The calculation of basic earnings per share for the six months 
ended 30 June 2006 is based on profit attributable to equity holders of 
the Company of HK$491,621,000 (six months ended 30 June 2005: HK$723,176,
000) and the weighted average number of ordinary shares of 3,199,247,550 
(2005: 3,196,526,236).

2.      The calculation of diluted earnings per share for the six months 
ended 30 June 2006 is based on adjusted profit attributable to equity 
holders of the Company of HK$510,659,000 (six months ended 30 June 2005: 
HK$741,867,000) and the weighted average number of ordinary shares of 3,
528,158,751 (2005: 3,523,868,310), after adjusting for the effects of all 
dilutive potential ordinary shares.
